Treatment Support

When first diagnosed with cancer, many people go straight to the internet and start researching how to eat during cancer treatment with the hope of reducing side effects and supporting their healing and recovery. Is that what you did? Perhaps so, which is what landed you on this blog post. But, as I’m sure you discovered, even just a few minutes on Google opens a Pandora’s Box of conflicting advice.

The information about cancer and diet is ALL OVER THE PLACE, am I right? There are experts, various providers, patients, and studies on every side of the equation…from keto to vegan to everything in between. It’s hard to know which one to follow or what approach would ultimately be best for you.

At this point, one of two things usually happens.

  1. You may feel completely overwhelmed by the onslaught of information and decide to not worry about it, and just hope you’re doing the right thing with your diet during your treatment plan.
  2. OR…you may develop so much fear that you’re going to do something wrong that you whittle your diet down to practically nothing besides raw broccoli and garlic juice.

The truth is, whether you throw your hands up in the air or go off the deep end, neither approach to nutrition is going to help you feel better and recover faster during your cancer journey. But it doesn’t have to be this way!

You CAN use simple nutritional strategies to help you recover from cancer and reduce unpleasant side effects… all while enjoying the food you’re eating every day.

If this sounds like the balanced approach to nutrition that YOU are looking for, whether for yourself or your loved one, then I really think you’re going to appreciate my NEW 3-Part Video Series. In it, you’ll learn the most common challenges my clients run into when sifting through the conflicting advice they’re getting from different sources (even their doctors!) and the TRUTH behind how to eat during cancer treatment for maximum recovery and minimum side effects.

In this mini-training we will debunk 3 of the most common myths I see in the people that I work with.

Myth 1

Myth #1 is probably the most common mistake I see cancer patients making and it’s largely driven by what you’re hearing from your oncology team.

Over the last 12 years I’ve worked in a variety of settings…conventional oncology departments, infusion clinics, integrative medicine clinics, and (for the last 5 years) in private practice. I’ve seen firsthand what hundreds of cancer patients and their families are facing throughout this journey…including my Dad’s experience as he faced cancer twice.

I know what’s being discussed in the conventional setting and I also know what’s not being discussed…like how your food choices can actually help you feel better and improve your outcome.

Myth 2

In the second video we dive into Myth #2. If the first Myth is primarily being fueled by your oncology team, then Myth #2 is mostly being driven by your late-night internet searches. You’re understandably freaked out about your diagnosis and of course you want to do everything you can to beat this. So you do your best to navigate all the information you come across while bringing in as many strategies as possible.

The problem though with following Myth #2 is that it leaves you feeling fearful of food and overwhelmed at the thought of having to do this your entire life. It can also increase your risk for malnourishment and nutrient deficiencies…especially when combined with traditional cancer treatments.

Myth 3

In our final video we debunk advice that surprises even the most well-informed patients and providers alike. The problem with Myth #3 is that you’re worried about how treatment is going to make you feel, you want to keep your energy and strength up, and you definitely don’t want to do anything that might make you feel worse.

But imagine having a strategy that will not only help you feel better and have less side effects from treatment but will also help the treatment be more effective! That’s exactly what I share with you in the 3rd video.
